Many people believe in them but very few know where they came from... 

some of them are: not going under stairs this would bring you very bad luck during your day. see a black cat, this would give you bad luck or some curses. Throwing rice to the newlyweds of fertility and abundance, also throwing lentils at the end of the year brings prosperity to the family in addition to wearing yellow clothes for good luck..
